EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen have notified SM Entertainment of the termination of their exclusive contracts.
 
On June 1, Jae-hak Lee, partner at Lin, who is representing Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen (Byun Baekhyun, Kim Min-seok, and Kim Jong-dae) released an official position statement.

"From March 21 to the latest, we have sent SM a total of seven certified request letters, through which we have repeatedly requested copies of the transparent settlement data and settlement basis. However, SM retained its position that it cannot provide copies of the data," it said.

"SM has repeatedly engaged in extremely unfair dominance by signing long-term contracts with artists for more than 12 or 13 years, and then forcing them to sign subsequent exclusive contracts for a period of at least 17 or 18 years," said Attorney Jae-hak Lee. "If you include the period of their traineeships, which can be as long as 20 years, SM is forcing artists to sign so-called slave contracts based on its superior position." he added.
